TASO Approved Uniform

Shirt

2.25" striped shirt with dye-sublimated patches (TASO patch front-left above pocket, American flag on left sleeve, and Texas flag on right sleeve). Make sure to select shirts that do not have position plackets. Long sleeve shirts are not required; however, they are recommended for colder weather. The entire crew must wear the same length shirt. Non-uniformed long sleeve shirts are not to be worn under the TASO uniformed short sleeve shirt.

Pants, Shorts, & Belt

Black pants with a white vertical stripe. The pants usually come unaltered (meaning you have to get them hemmed to length). Some vendors offer alterations for an additional price, or you may opt to have a local tailor alter your pants to your liking. We recommend having a local tailor do it, so  you are certain the pant length falls just above the bottom of your shoes. Shorts are reserved for junior high games and scrimmages (If you are assigned multiple games, all games must be junior high in order to wear shorts). A black belt with silver buckle is required.

Hat, Shoes, & Socks

All black hat with white piping is required for everyone, except the referee. Shoes must be predominantly black. Black ankle socks must be worn with pants, and low-cut socks may be worn with shorts.

SAFOA Approved Accessories

With the exception of the chain clip, SAFOA uses black accessories. It is highly recommended to have two of everything. NOTE:  The chapter will provide each new official with one radio and headset for free when the official initially joins the chapter. The official will be responsible to purchase additional radios or if the radio is damaged or lost. Replacement radios and headsets may be purchased at Amazon (i.e. Radio is Midland - LXT500VP3, 22 Channel FRS Walkie Talkies with Channel Scan (Black); Headset is Earpiece for Midland Walkie Talkies with Mic Security Headsets. Officials are expected to bring radios and headsets to every assignment.
